As EmpressEricka had said over at YouTube: “This commercial is LEGENDARY. Its been around for almost 20 years now.” That’s certainly a long time, especially in the advertising world.
This 15-second commercial distinguishes itself from other Christmas commercial by being simple and minimalistic. There is no frills. There’s just the products – Hershey’s Kisses chocolates – neatly positioned to form a Christmas tree. However, when the music of “We wish you a Merry Christmas” started, we saw the chocolates quickly transformed into red and green Christmas bells. Brilliant! I like the concept and execution very much.
This commercial is all about a great concept that works. It also proves that great concept doesn’t always come with a big price tag. Yet, it retains all the magical touch for all these 20 years … after it was first launched in the mid 1980s.
