Power of a Brand Properly Used

Many people do not realise that the power of a brand extends beyond the obvious. I have worked with many small and medium enterprises who believe, wrongly, of course; that “brand” means Coca Cola or Apple. They somehow fail to see themselves as being “branded”.

But all companies, big or small, are branded. Even in traditional businesses like Home Improvements, a company is branded. It is always good to see a company who is proud of their brand. I find that this company (Anglian) has implemented a very simple, yet effective design that states clearly its products and services, and its brand. When going “online”, many companies make the mistake of being carried away by the technology gee-whiz and tend to overload their web sites.

If you were searching for double glazing on your window, would you rather go straight to a page that showed you exactly what you wanted, or would you want to wade through a sea of animated banners and flashy Flash movies?

It might seem ironic that a marketing and design company like us would advocate simplicity over glitz, but the reality is that it is so much more challenging to have great designs that are simple; than it is to just have “great designs”.
